  • What beverage best brings out the flavor of Ramen Noodles? How about toilet water as you flush it down. Ladies, we must not lower ourselves to ramen. Buy some whole wheat spaghetti, a little bit of fresh mint, a little lemon, some olive oil, parmesean, and red pepper flakes and you have a fabulous meal. I've been poor...really poor and I always find something better than Ramen. As far as merlot with meat loaf. Sure, i've had that. I prefer a mix. For some reason i'm really enjoying Francis Ford Copolla's "Rosso." It's a nice mild blend. 48% zinfandel, 27%Syrah, 25% cabernet Sauvignon. It's quite drinkable and smooth. But in my opinion. Bubbles go with EVERYTHING. So, "Cristalino" a $9.00 sparkling wine is my recession bubbly of choice. You can get both on wine.com or at most wine shops. Enjoy!

  • So far, all of my pnn posts (Frogprincess) are recession food posts. Feel free to check them out! I have a certain small advantage-- my sister is a professional, master's degree nutritionist. I can, and do, run suggestions by her before posting them. I won't ever say they're healthy unless she says they're healthy!

  • The joy of feeding oneself or those that we love should begin before the first taste. We eat with our eyes as well as our stomachs and taking an extra few moments to set the stage for your meal presentation will make all the difference in the comfort that the meal imparts; no matter what our circumstances are and how humble are meal may be.....if presented well and with joy, the meal will always be just what hit the spot! Use your dining room, if your home has one, at least a few days a week. Set your table with thought and take out your nicer china and flatware....who deserves to use it more than you and your love ones? Create a centerpiece for the table using a bowl of fruit or cut greenery from the yard or display a small collection of items that would look nice grouped together on your table. Give thought to the power of your kitchen by keeping a pantry and freezer stocked with items that do double duty and allow you the flexibility to make "quick" and affordable meals.
